Understanding Youtube!
Growing a Youtube Channel
There was a point in my life where i was an active YouTube poster. I want to start off by saying more then half of all YouTube channels that try to expand their reach almost always fail. They often get no viewership and are often left with maybe 10 -30 views max not including themselves watching. So why does this happen?
Figuring it out
Honestly, I was one of them. A large part of it is because at the time, I didn’t know what I was doing. I didn’t understand why media and consumer behavior is the way it is. However, after experimenting with a few success and a few failures… I understood a few things.
Media has a Time (click image for video)
I posted this funny clip from the globally recognized tv show “The Walking Dead”, 1 day later after the episode aired on T.V (Aired March 4th, 2018). What happened was that since i was the first one to do this idea for the episode, my video will show up in search result for people much more conveniently at a early stage of this episode release. With proper keywords, timing, and a understanding of short concept content; I essentially started the “Simon Bullshit meme” trend.
Media has a place (Making YouTube short before YouTube short)
After my little success with this video I looked and found out that this short clip did extremely well on mobile devices! KEEP IN MIND, this was at a time when YouTube didn’t implement “YouTube shorts” yet. Although I was most likely and probably not the first person to realize this, it did help me understand a bit when uploading my next short funny clip. (keep in mind about timing as well of course)
Most importantly…
MEDIA HAS AN AUDIENCE
Not all content can reach all your desired audience. I realize it is best to pick the ones that are most likely going to view your content and best find ways to reach them at any means.
